Role Overview
AESG is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Engineer to support the implementation of environmental compliance and monitoring activities for a major overhead transmission line project located within a protected area.
The Environmental Engineer will work closely with the Environmental Manager to ensure that all site activities comply with Saudi environmental regulatory requirements (NCEC, NCW, NCVC, Protected Area Authority), client environmental standards, and international best practices.
The role will focus on day-to-day site compliance, monitoring, and reporting, and on supporting the environmental team in delivering consistent, high-quality outputs across multiple project locations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
- 68 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in major infrastructure or transmission line projects.
- Strong working knowledge of Saudi environmental regulations (NCEC, NCW, NCVC) and international standards (IFC PS, ISO 14001:2015).
- Demonstrated experience in site-based environmental compliance, inspections, and monitoring.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with contractors and multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance & Monitoring:
- Support the implementation of the Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (CESMP) and site-specific control measures.
- Conduct daily site inspections to verify compliance with environmental permits, authority requirements, and approved method statements.
- Participate in weekly joint inspections with the contractor and client teams, ensuring findings are clearly documented and closed out.
- Assist in the identification and management of environmental non-conformances, ensuring timely follow-up and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate compliance records, logs, and photo documentation for reporting and audits.
Team Support & Coordination:
- Provide daily technical support to the Environmental Manager and Environmental Officers deployed across work fronts.
- Coordinate with contractor environmental teams to ensure consistent implementation of environmental controls.
- Support team planning, task allocation, and follow-up on inspection findings.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of environmental tools such as checklists, trackers, and monitoring dashboards.
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Supervise and validate monitoring activities for air quality, noise, waste, water, and biodiversity.
- Review monitoring data, field logs, and lab results to ensure accuracy and compliance with project standards.
- Prepare weekly inspection summaries, monthly reports, and compliance dashboards for submission to the Environmental Manager.
- Ensure all monitoring results and evidence are properly logged and traceable for regulatory and client audits.
Regulatory & Proponent Interface:
- Assist in preparing documentation and supporting evidence for authority audits and site visits.
- Participate in meetings and inspections with the proponent, contractor, and regulatory representatives as required.
- Maintain familiarity with all relevant permits, approvals, and conditions of compliance applicable to the site.
Training & Awareness:
- Conduct toolbox talks and awareness sessions for site teams and subcontractors on key environmental topics (e.g., waste management, spill prevention, biodiversity protection).
- Support the Environmental Manager in mentoring junior staff and developing team capacity in compliance management.
Risk Management & Incident Response:
- Identify and report potential environmental risks observed during site activities.
- Support spill response and incident investigations, including documentation and close-out reporting.
- Promote proactive environmental management and continual improvement across site operations.
