We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Project Manager (Rail & Transport) to lead the safe and timely delivery of a major rail and transport infrastructure project, focusing on rail systems, mobility solutions, and station development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout, while ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgets.

Candidates must have extensive experience working in the concept, design and procurement phases of the project lifecycle along with previous experience of working in a Project Management or Engineering Consultancy.

This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage complex project scopes while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and performance standards.

What You'll Be Doing:

1.Health, Safety, and Security:

•Champion a culture of health, safety, wellbeing, and security across the project, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, client requirements, and local regulations.

•Empower the team to implement safety initiatives, including the ‘Stop Work’ authority, to maintain a safe working environment.

2.Project Planning and Execution:

•Develop and implement robust project delivery plans, covering all aspects of preparation, execution, and closeout.

•Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring alignment with time, cost, health & safety, quality assurance, and performance objectives.

•Oversee the development of project schedules and budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.

3.Stakeholder Engagement:

•Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and resolving conflicts.

•Ensure a ‘Customer-first’ approach is integrated into all aspects of project planning and delivery.

•Engage with local authorities, contractors, and key third parties to ensure alignment with project objectives.

4.Scope and Change Management:

•Oversee scope management, constructability reviews, and contract alignment to ensure project objectives are met.

•Manage changes through defined change management processes, ensuring early identification and communication of potential impacts.

5.Design and Procurement Coordination:

•Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery of concept and detailed designs.

•Support procurement processes by developing detailed scopes of work, facilitating market engagement, and evaluating contractor and supplier proposals.

6.Procurement and Commercial Support:

•Lead the procurement process by selecting appropriate contract models, developing scopes of work, facilitating market engagement, and conducting rigorous reviews to engage suitable contractors and consultants.

•Work effectively with the commercial team to ensure contractual compliance and cost control are maintained to the highest level.

7.Team Leadership and Mentorship:

•Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a high-performance culture through clear direction, continuous feedback, and recognition of exceptional performance.

•Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to support the growth of team members.

8.Risk and Issue Management:

•Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing strategies to address roadblocks and maintain project momentum.

•Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

9.Quality Assurance and Compliance:

•Ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements.

•Conduct thorough reviews of design documents and oversee digital document control processes (e.g., Aconex).

10.Reporting and Communication:

•Prepare and deliver regular project updates, reports, and presentations to stakeholders and senior management.

•Maintain transparency and accuracy in project documentation and communication.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

1.Education:

•Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field.

•Higher National Diploma in a relevant field is also acceptable.

2.Certifications:

•Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, AgilePM, or equivalent certifications are desirable but not mandatory.

3.Experience:

•Minimum of 8+ years of experience in project management, leading complex Rail & Transport projects from initiation to completion within a contracting or engineering consultancy environment.

•Extensive experience working in the concept, design, and procurement phases of the project lifecycle.

•Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively controlling scope, schedule, budget, and resources.

4.Technical Skills:

•Proficiency in enterprise-level project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or Aconex.

•Strong understanding of rail systems, station design, and construction processes.

5.Soft Skills:

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

•Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution abilities.

•Ability to mentor and coach team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
